Tapping a Make or Caliber suggestion fills the field. It was setting the value
behind the scenes but leaving your half-typed text on screen, and the next
keystroke undid it.
An entry in progress survives leaving the app. Switching away to look something
up rebuilt the screen from scratch and took the entry with it. If iOS shuts the app
down while you are away, your typing comes back the next time you add.

Cancel above the keyboard puts the field back the way it was.
Cancel and Done are a full-size tap target — the first tap or two used to miss.
Tap a custom field's name to rename it.
