Export and import your collection

Updated

Export

In Settings, use Export to make a PDF report of your collection, or a CSV. For the CSV you can pick Firearms, Parts and Maintenance. Files you pick are shared together in one sheet.

Use the PDF for insurance, an estate plan, or your own records. Exports are created on your phone. You choose where they go from the share sheet, such as AirDrop, Files or Mail. We have no copy and no way to see them.

Import a CSV

In Settings, tap Import and choose a CSV you built, or one Gunmark exported earlier.

  • The first row must be the column names Gunmark knows, such as Nickname, Make and Model. Exports start with that header.
  • Dates are yyyy-MM-dd.
  • Money is a plain number with no dollar sign.
  • Photos and documents are not in the CSV. They stay in the app.
  • If two firearms share a display name, the Parts import uses the FirearmSerial column to attach each part to the right gun.

Start from a template

In Settings > Import, tap Get a Template. On iPhone it saves a CSV into Files, with the real header and one example row. The example starts with #, and import ignores it. Delete it or leave it, fill in your rows, then import the same file.

Editing in Numbers or Excel

  • A Numbers document won’t import. When you’re done editing, use Share, Export, CSV, save to Files, and import that file.
  • Excel can break a re-import if it rewrites a cell as a currency string or a serial date. Keep dates as text in ISO form, keep prices as numbers, and don’t rename the header cells.
