On your iPhone by default. Gunmark has no account and no server of its own. Optional iCloud sync (build 20+) uses Apple CloudKit under your Apple ID — Big Beard Apps cannot read it. Device iCloud Backup still works the same way Notes does. Sharing a PDF or CSV is another way a copy leaves the device.
Settings lets you turn on sync through your Apple iCloud. Data stays in your private CloudKit database. There is no Gunmark login and no Gunmark backend. Leave it off and everything stays local-only.
Settings → Export → Export CSV lets you pick Firearms, Parts, and Maintenance. Selected files share together in one sheet. Settings → Import accepts a CSV you built, or one Gunmark exported earlier.
The first data row must be the column names Gunmark knows
(Nickname,Make,Model… and so on). Exports start with that header —
no comment rows above it. Template files may include a sample row that starts
with #; import ignores those.
Dates are yyyy-MM-dd. Money is a plain number with no dollar sign.
Photos and documents are not in the CSV; they stay in the app. If two firearms
share a display name, Parts import uses the FirearmSerial column to
attach the part to the right host.
On iPhone only: Get a Template saves a CSV into Files. Opening it in Numbers
turns it into a Numbers document. When you are done editing, Numbers → Share →
Export → CSV → Save to Files, then import that CSV in Gunmark. The
.numbers file will not import.
Yes. Settings → Import → Get a Template writes a CSV with the real header and
one example row. Delete or ignore the example (it starts with #),
fill in your rows, then import the same file.
It can, if a cell is rewritten as a locale currency string or an Excel serial date. Keep date columns as text in ISO form, keep prices as numbers, and don’t rename the header cells. Comment rows at the top are safe to leave.
